About Our Berks Legacy

 

Our Berks Legacy is a storytelling project devoted to the people, places, and memories that make Berks County home. From lifelong residents and local business owners to caregivers, community leaders, and quiet everyday heroes, we capture the stories that too often fade away.

 

Created and hosted by Gary R. Hawkins, longtime Berks County resident and owner of Griswold Home Care of Berks County, Our Berks Legacy grew out of decades of listening to families share their journeys through aging, caregiving, hardship, and hope. Gary has spent more than five decades in the care field, and he’s seen how quickly a lifetime of memories can be lost if no one takes the time to record them.

 

Through relaxed conversations, visits to meaningful places, and simple reflections on life, loss, love, and legacy, Our Berks Legacy preserves these stories so they can be shared with children, grandchildren, neighbors, and the wider community for years to come.
